PARROTS IN CAPTIVITY VOLUME ONE Twenty seven color-printed wood-engraved plates (chromoxylographs) on compact disc. by Benjamin. Fawcett drawn by A. F. Lydon. 1884-1887

This CD presents 27 high resolution digital BMP images from the 1884-1887 first edition of PARROTS IN CAPTIVITY VOLUME ONE.

These images can be printed directly from the CD or imported to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, PaintShop Pro, Adobe PhotoDelux, PrintMaster and other popular painting and drawing programs and printed on quality inkjet paper producing stunning results suitable for framing. Or for designing your own greeting cards, posters, brochures and calendars.

The print out size is the same size as the originals, if not enlarged or reduced. I have found that these Images print best on Ink Jet matte paper. When printed directly from the CD, they are the actual size. (The same as the originals) and the result is an awesome print almost indistinguishable as a reprint, even when using a relatively inexpensive home ink jet printer.

Parrots in Captivity. By W. T. Greene 1884-87. Volume one of three volumes produced from the original color-printed wood-engraved plates (chromoxylographs) by Benjamin. Fawcett-the inventor of chromoxylography, drawn by A. F. Lydon, All 27 plates have been digitally archived and transferred to CD.

Greene was a popular author on cage birds, and this work on parrots, parakeets, lories. Cookatoos, and macaws were well received. A contemporary review in the Live Stock Journal remarked, "The artist and author combined gave the collector a fine idea of the characteristics of these birds. The first book devoted exclusively to parrots in captivity with an interesting anecdotal text and excellent illustrations. Most Australian parrots are described and figured, including rarities such as the Paradise Parrot (now extinct), Orange-bellied Parrot and Ground Parrot REFERENCE: Ayer/Zimmer 274 Fine Bird Books 79; McGill/Wood 368; Nissen, IVB 393; Nissen SVB 215

This CD contains the entire collection of original images as well as a set which has been digitally enhanced in the transfer to CD as in the scan below. These web images are electronically watermarked, the CD images are not.
